Session Summaries by Latin Tutors

Griffith, IN Latin tutoring
For this session, I mainly focused on the student to help her construct sentences in Spanish. We began by looking at what she drew on the board (hearts and rainbows) and I had her form simple declarative sentences ("The hearts are pink" ==> "Los corazones son rosados"). She excelled at forming Spanish statements, eventually to the point to where she could form sentences without my guidance. We ended the session playing Spanish Uno. Overall, the session went excellently, and we will have our final session next Thursday.

We discussed future tense, and prepositions today. We spent the most time on when to use subjunctive verses indicative. We went over a few examples, and now she feels a little more comfortable, but we'll definitely do more examples on Tuesday for review. She also understands the prepositions pretty well. She has a good handle on Spanish, and can do everything independently. She is a very good student!

We spoke about our weeks, then I quizzed the student on animal and food vocabulary from last week. We then learned vocabulary surrounding the home, home furniture, and rooms. We talked about our own homes and what they were like. We then listed and used the past, future, and present forms of the -ar verbs 'tomar' and 'hablar.' We then finished the session by asking one another questions using tomar and hablar.
