Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We're going to be meeting a few times in the next few days because the student has a midterm coming up soon. On Thursday we worked on aggregate supply and demand and did some review problems on unemployment."
"Today we worked on a problem set the student received yesterday and is due next week. We spent our time reviewing problems concerning concepts she had covered in class. These included simple GDP calculation and questions involving unemployment. We plan to finish the assignment during our next meeting."
"We discussed the topic of cost estimation. We worked through two problems on the high-low method from the student's homework. Overall, he understood the concepts of the different types of cost: fixed, variable, semivariable, and step fixed."
"The student and I looked at homework from his class software and made sure he had 100% for those assignments. We discussed how to know when to use which formula but just in the last two sessions I have seen major improvement in comprehension for the material his test will be over."
"Today the student and I went over her practice test for monetary policy. We covered topics like inflation and deflation, the Federal Reserve's Open Market Operations, and nominal vs. real interest rates. She did well, missing fewer than five questions out of the 37 on the test. We then went over in detail the topic she had most trouble with (inflation/deflation of savings) until she felt confident with it. I think she should be prepared for the next test."
"The student and I covered topics of monopolies and oligopolies. We went over the differences between marginal revenue, marginal cost, average cost, and demand curves. We explored how to draw these graphs and find the optimal bundle. We also compared how these optimal bundles vary based on the type of market. The student seems strong with most of the subject material, but we need to do some more practice on breaking down what the question is asking and how to set up relevant equations and answers."
"The student and I reviewed average total cost and average variable cost concepts for her final test before the end of the quarter. The student seemed to gain confidence in her knowledge of the material throughout our session. I expect she will do well on her exam."
"I talked with the student about the graphics he wanted to produce for his company's article. I produced one infographic and provided justification by providing statistical data about the effectiveness of infographics in publications today. As the student mentioned, his company made the decision not to go forward with the infographics."
"We went through part of the student's practice test for Finance. The topics covered included net working capital, net income, fixed assets, quick ratio, and inventory ratios."
