Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight the student worked on math homework and reviewed math concepts for her exam. Concepts reviewed were place value and estimating (rounding) in word problems. Student two read for 30 minutes, and he practiced his spelling words for his spelling test."
"Topics covered in this session include elementary math, reading, and science. We were able to complete the student's math homework which include multiplication with estimating and larger numbers. She seems to be improving in her mental math fluency. We were also able to review the student's geology terms and define them. The student's spelling test was also completed, and she did well in spelling and their sounds. In addition, the student read with ease and had few pronunciation errors."

"We actually went over science today since the student is having a science test tomorrow. She understood a lot of the material before I got there and learned the newer material quickly. The material was about plants, types of trees and even fossils of plants."
"We actually worked equally on math and reading. We worked on rhyming: focusing only on correct rhyming answers. Continued exploring of same and different. Concepts of print and vocabulary building. Patterns Counting Conservation of number Color id. The student's dad is greatly involved and takes copious notes during sessions for ideas to work on during the week. Next week I will incorporate fine motor tasks as well. The student stays very engaged. He is a sweet boy with a beautiful smile. He enjoys jokes and is fairly confident of skills. He continues to become more and more confident with quicker and more consistent answers."
"We are continuing to work on the student's math facts by playing math games. Today we played a dice game. We also practiced some reading comprehension by reading the Sword of Damocles retold by James Baldwin. Then we discussed the story and answered some questions. His mom is going to talk with his math teacher to find out what lessons from the book he has completed in class. Then we can start to focus on those topics. I am going to find some math board games for us to play next time we get together."
