Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today's session covered past tense verbs. We spoke about our past events in past tense. The student has presented me with a summary in Spanish. I corrected and facilitated any doubts the student had in her sentence structure. I have also presented the student with a helping verb for past tense, since he is having some issues with conjugating past tense verbs. He was able to find some relief in using helping verbs when it came to understanding how to use past tense. I suggested that he should create some sentences in Spanish using our helping verbs we learned. Our next lesson will cover helping verbs for future tense verbs."
"We continued to work on colors. The student can comprehend when I ask her questions about colors, but she still needs work on responding on her own. I told her mom it was okay to have her start off with word starters and continue practicing."
"We continued to work with verb conjugation. The student still needs practice with preterite verb conjugation, despite now being able to fluently choose between the preterite and the imperfect. We will continue practicing conjugation tomorrow, but will also include a new verb tense: the subjunctive."
"We continued with the last part of the subjunctive and its applications in situations of doubt, denial, and disbelief. We also reviewed the subjunctive with conjunctions. Then, the student did some exercises, showing that he is understanding the use of the subjunctive vs the indicative. He will need to do more exercises, especially through dictations and oral practice, since he doesn't show great difficulties in written exercises."
"We continued working with the idea of describing people. The students wrote descriptions of famous people or characters and then read them to the group. The group had to determine who was being described. We then worked with food vocabulary and described full meals."
"We continued working with the past tense. I had the student tell me 5 things that he had done since our last class and asked him some questions about those things. We talked about some common phrases to express things like "last week," "yesterday," etc. We then went on to review some common reflexive verbs and the student has the list that I gave him. We worked on the first section of that list. In working and practicing with those verbs, we also worked on basic clothes vocabulary the he had forgotten."
