Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student received a 95% on the last test she has taken. In this past tutoring session, we went over a new topic: differential equations. From practicing differential equation problems, we were also able to have some practice in integrating by parts. We then went over an AP free response question related to rotating functions and calculating a volume, in which we went over the logic of how to calculate these integrals instead of memorizing the equation. She felt really comfortable with this problem and does very well on free response questions."
"The student is showing more improvement, though she still needs a lot of practice. She has been working on adding single digits that add up to ten; now she should practice adding up all single digits, so that her answers are up to 18. I worked with her on her homework and she is able to do addition of those numbers if she draws pictures, so if she practices learning those addition problems enough, she should be able to give the answer by sight."
"We completed problem set 96 for the student's homework as well as his math study guide. He struggled a little bit with the new material in the problem set- mostly word problems. He did better with the study guide. The topics on his upcoming test include ratio problems, word problems, working with negatives, and graphing. We will continue to work on understanding and completing these types of problems in our next session."
"We covered: finding x- and y-intercepts, graphing functions given x- and y-intercepts, writing equations in Standard Form. The student is a great student and was happy to be working ahead of his class tonight. I look forward to meeting with him next week."
"We spent the entire time preparing for the student's quiz. Topics covered were: add, subt, mult, div, and composition of functions; finding and graphing inverses of functions; identifying the domain and the range of functions and their inverses. Identifying the transformation of functions to their parent graph."
"After last week's breakthrough, the student seems much more confident in her math capabilities. Today we covered elimination and substitution in equations. Additionally, we reviewed adding and subtracting like and different signs."
