Tutoring review by Robyn in Monrovia, CA
Today the student and I focused primarily on properties of quadrilaterals, the subject of his last test that he is retaking sometime next week. We worked through a worksheet I had brought where we had to use the properties of quadrilaterals to find angle and segment measures. I quizzed him over the properties for the last 5-10 minutes. Overall, it was a great session and I was impressed with the student's use of deductive reasoning as we worked through the problems.

She is struggling with all her facts even her twos which we have been working on for the past couple of times. We will continue to work on memorizing her facts.

In this session, the student and I discussed a homework assignment from U.S. and World Affairs. The topic of the lesson was The Cold War. We first covered vocabulary for the lesson (Containment, Communism, Capitalism). We then used a map and reading to answer questions and make inferences about the text. After completing homework, he added notes/handouts that he had placed in the front of his binder and organized them according to date.

The student has a quiz next week on the "completing the square" method. His homework assignment involved this topic, and he was able to complete all of it. He seems to fully grasp the material, but still needs to be careful so as to not make minor mistakes. We then starting discussing complex (imaginary numbers) and their operations, and he worked through several examples. We will continue reviewing this topic later next week. He was engaged and receptive to learning during the session.
