The nearly 1,200 acres of forest are criss-crossed by several trails in various states of upkeep. Those looking for an easy hike can take one of the well-trodden paths, but adventurers can go off the beaten path to explore the park. The main trail of the park is the State Fire Lane, which is wide enough to be driven on. In the winter, the park is just as usable, as it has many snowmobile trails. A few trails are closed during hunting season because they cross private property, but as long as you stay within the area of the park, you will be able to explore freely. The area is also great for camping, if you're looking for a way to commune more closely with nature. Visits under three nights long don't even require a permit!

Recent Johnsonville Tutoring Session Notes

Tutoring review by Hannah in Johnsonville, NY
We reviewed topics from his previous test, including vectors, cross product, dot product, and graphing techniques. The student seems to have a good understanding of most of these topics on a conceptual level but is having some difficulty translating that knowledge to the test questions. We will continue to work on these topics in our next session.

Tutoring review by Colleen in Johnsonville, NY
Tonight we worked on study skills-note taking for his current unit in trigonometry. He has another exam on Friday for Unit 8 trig, so we took notes on a teacher's summary video. Here it became clear that he didn't fully have the basics down that are necessary to understand the unit; but over the course of viewing 8.1 and 8.2 summaries, with continuous checks for understanding, he began to learn them. He was able to follow along with the teacher and predict the teacher's next step. And by the end, he was able to set up equations successfully and describe what he was required to do to solve them. He needs to continue this note taking strategy in class tomorrow as well as at home with summary videos 8.3 and 8.4.

Tutoring review by Hadiya in Johnsonville, NY
At the beginning of this session, we began with working on a quiz. The quiz covered inequalities. The student had to solve inequalities and create inequalities based on word problems. He did well with solving problems, but did need reminders on multiplying and dividing integers. After we completed the quiz, we worked on absolute value equations. I taught him that he had to put the equation to a positive and negative answer to find out the solutions. We worked on these problems because I know that his class will be working on inequalities with absolute value soon. He needs to be reminded to listen to all directions carefully and to take his time with his work.

Tutoring review by Tiwa in Johnsonville, NY
We spent the duration of our session focusing on reviewing limits and going over problems that the student had trouble with in relation to this topic. We went of the concepts of continuity, horizontal and vertical asymptotes and end value theorem. At the conclusion of our session, she had a much better understanding on how to approach these types of problems. I gave her some tips for his upcoming exam and suggested some areas for her to work in preparation for her exam.

With Student 1, we reviewed graphing systems of linear inequalities, and he completed all of his homework problems and a few from his book. With Student 2, we reviewed congruent figures, circles, and circle graphs in preparation for his quiz next week. I created a practice quiz for him.
