Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is still preparing for her final. We went over the solutions to the practice final from her professor that were just posted. She understands the concepts, but she had a few mistakes with arithmetic. I suggested that she simplify expressions as she goes along and think about how reasonable her answers are (e.g., negative area solutions). We also went over the homework that she was assigned. She was able to perform volume by integration on an irregular object on her own, which shows a deep understanding."
"The student needed help on his final review. We went through some complex derivative, as well as related rates. The student seemed to understand most of the material."
"The student needed help reviewing for the final, and felt much better after going over it with me. I left him a sheet explaining what to do, and he felt even better."
"The student needed help with a set theory class, and I was able to help him with using Pascal's triangle to do binomial expansion. He was struggling to make the connection between Pascal's triangle and the expansion, but by the end of the session, he was able to do it."
"The student needed some help working on implicit differentiation. She had trouble when there were product and quotient rules included in these problems, so we went over that in detail. We also practiced how to find second derivatives using these techniques."
"The student seemed to understand things quickly once we went through them. It seems like maybe it's just difficult to follow what the teacher is saying sometimes, so having it re-explained helped. We will continue to do extra practice in word problems, as it seems like this is definitely her biggest weakness."
