"We completed a review sheet on integration- specifically u-substitution. It was taking a little bit longer for the student to get some of these concepts, but she seemed to really understand it towards the end of the session. After some practice she was able to complete most of the problems on the review sheet with little help from me."
"Tonight the student and I worked on a project that he has due on Wednesday. The project involves finding the volume of a solid with a circular base and equilateral triangle cross-sections. We had tried to approach a similar problem like this before, and I left him some practice work on the subject. Today he followed much better, and we were able to get through the majority of his project. I left him with some easier mathematical computations for him to solve as the last part, but he seemed to understand the subject more than before, which I'm glad he learned!"
"The student needed a final review session before her chapter 11 test. We went over solving systems of linear inequalities as well as systems of equations of higher powers (squares and square roots). We then went on to take this concept to cover linear programming questions. She understood how to set up the graphs. We then went on to covering translating word problems into systems of equations and solving them. We ended the session with reviewing using substitution to solving higher order systems of equations."
"We worked on mean absolute deviation today. We did various problems using sets to determine the mean, median and mode. Then we also worked on finding the mean absolute deviation. The student understands the concept and was able to apply the process to practice problems and her homework assignment. She did a great job today."
"We completed discussion of the cross product and delved into planes in xyz space. We worked through various examples and homework problems so he could practice all the computational steps. We wrapped up with an intro to cylindrical and spherical coordinates and covered all the conversion formulas and explained the geometry/trigonometry behind the formulas so he could gain a visual and conceptual understanding of the new coordinate systems."
"We reviewed the student's previous exam and worked through the problems she lost points on. We also started her new homework set on Chapter 8.7, calculating surface areas of various shapes (cones, pyramids, etc.)."
