"We started with his assignment on Gauss' Law. Everything was in his notes (he takes really good notes) but he didn't understand what some of the complicated integrals were, so I tried to explain them in simpler terms. While a lot of these concepts are rooted in calculus, you don't often need to use calculus to solve the problems. I showed him the main equations and concepts, and by the end of the assignment he was answering the questions as quickly as I could. We had a little time left at the end of the session, so we went over some concepts from his Calc 2 class - specifically arc length and center of mass. It's really just a matter of remembering the integral formulas, so I showed him where they come from to help him remember. He should do well on his quiz coming up."
"We went over practice tests to prepare for the next exam. The student is good at the individual pieces of the kinematics problems."
"We reviewed some previous homework assignments and re-worked a number of problems together. Topics included resistor circuits and introductory magnetism problems."
