Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The first student and I conducted a review of everything we've covered so far. That included vocabulary, and I had him repeat his new words back to me several times. We also played a game while counting in Chinese. With the second student, we focused on the numbers 1-10, a vocab review and several new vocab words."
"During our second session, the concepts that we covered specifically are such as how to ask Yes-No questions, how to ask them in different ways, how to make answers towards these questions, and the questions that student had on top of his head. The student was struggling most with the combination of the "i" pronunciation, and we went over the questions that the student had. At this session, the student brought a book he purchased from the bookstore, and we both found it was not practical. For this meeting, we continued to have the discussion and conversational practices. I didn't leave him with any extra practice, because conversational Mandarin takes time to do repeated practices. The student is eager to learn and always picking up new concepts quickly. Overall, I had a good session with him."
"We went over the student's unit final, on which she scored well. With the remaining time, we previewed the dialogue and vocab for the first lesson of the next unit."
