Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I reviewed for her Chapter 2.1-2.3 quiz that's scheduled for tomorrow. I helped to reinforce the concepts of laws of syllogism, biconditional statements, and inductive vs. deductive reasoning. It took a minute to help her understand the law of syllogism, but as always, she had a wonderful grasp of it by the end of the hour. She had such a good grasp that she scored 8/9 on section 2.3 and 9/9 on 2.1 and 2.2 section quizzes! I hope she can translate that excellent quiz score to her in class quiz."
"Today the student and I reviewed lessons 3 and 4 of his review packet. He stated that he does have a test on Friday covering the first six lesson topics of identifying angles, right triangle sides, complementary and supplementary angle properties, parallel lines, transverse lines, and geometric proofs. During our first session, reviewed lesson 2. He felt confident with geometric proofs in lesson 5 and 6. Within lesson 3, he needed help recognizing that he needed to draw out the line segments stated in the problem rather than copy the information given. Once I assisted him in drawing out the information properly and understanding what the information meant, he was able to complete the algebraic portion properly. Within lesson 4, I helped him understand the difference between vertex angles vs. adjacent angles. During our next session, I hope to review his exam with him if necessary."
"Today the student and I went over the following topics: lines, rays, line segments, line addition, midpoints, line addition with algebra, substitution, planes, and deductive reasoning. She worked hard and showed me how to solve problems when she knew how. She was attentive and asked questions when confused. She was an excellent student."
"Today the student and I went over the materials for his quiz tomorrow and test Monday. This included slope intercept and standard form of lines, congruent angle, and parallel line theorems. After working through problems he seems to have a much better grasp of the material."
"Today the student and I worked on a variety of math problems. He did not struggle with the material and had a positive attitude throughout the session. I included strategies to tie different topics together into a more firm understanding. I added similar problems to further test his comprehension and recall. I did not see any scores and I do not have any concerns. I look forward to our next session."
"Today the student and I worked on math. He did very well. He will do very well on his test next week."
