"The student and I practiced determining the sum of sequences and writing sequences in sigma notation. She mentioned she got a 100% on her last quiz, and I am going to create a practice exam for her before her exam next Friday"
"The student and I practiced graphing equations based on special features such as y-intercepts, domain, horizontal asymptotic, vertical symptoms, discontinuities, roots, multiplicities, and more. He has gotten exceptionally better at recalling information accurately without going so quick as to respond with the wrong answer. His attitude towards the subject has been steadily diligent, and I have seen significant improvement over last few weeks. He has an exam on Monday of next week, and he is telling me he feels more prepared than a lot of students in the class and that going through these today is taking a huge weight off his shoulder. I suggested he keep practicing these and other new exercises that he will be receiving, and we will review on Friday for his exam on Monday."
"The student and I reviewed different problems on logarithms. We focused on how to solve log problems, and he was very motivated to learn. We reviewed simplifying square roots. He also explained that he was waiting for his test grade and would like to go over that next time."
"The student and I reviewed for his quiz tomorrow on piecewise functions. I pulled up some practice problems for us to graph, and he did very well with little help from me. He also worked on his homework assignment (composition of functions). He also did very well with these and only needed a little direction with determining the domain. We are going to meet again next week at the same time."
"The student and I reviewed for his test. It was about circle and line formulas. He seems well prepped for the test. I asked him to give me a few details of what he's working on, in advance; that way, I can make sure to tailor my work with him towards how his teacher is teaching and expecting answers from him."
"The student and I reviewed her goals for the ACT. She recently finished taking the ACT for the first time. I helped her work on her world history reading. She read about the classical Mayan civilization, and she practiced reading actively and summarizing what she read (just like she should try to do on the ACT). Next, she did a few practice questions from her ACT prep book in the math section of a practice test. Since she may or may not take the ACT again, I suggested that she continue studying, albeit very lightly (two questions per day)."
