Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The students did great this session. We worked on reading fluency and sight words. I tested them on middle vowel sounds and they did a great job. In math, we worked on double digit addition and subtraction. Both did an amazing job with staying focused and on task this session!"
"The students worked on place value, putting numbers in order, and 2 logic problems. We then used playing cards for multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction facts. They can relate one multiplication fact to the family of 2 multiplication facts and 2 division facts. This is a big step in learning multiplication and division! They enjoyed using the cards to learn the facts and used a "magic" button in the middle of the table, which they would hit, to answer the questions. They are quite a pair!"
"The topics covered during this session include a review of previous math topics, order of operations, measurement, and solving for variables. The student was able to complete her homework and showed better understanding of all topics and her multiplication tables. She appears to be getting more fluent with her multiplication and division facts."
"This entry is for two sessions. The student did a wonderful job on her spelling words this week. She is struggling with telling time. She has shown great improvement in this area. Her struggles have mainly to do with telling time from analog to digital, so I gave her homework to extend the lesson."
"This evening we finished the student's Jewel Fairy book! She did a great job, and we both enjoyed reading the book together. We completed her comprehension notebook, and I had her evaluate her favorite scene from the entire book. She's very creative!"
"This session was half math and half reading. We worked on his timed math facts for math practice today. I timed him on the addition facts, and he answered them all correctly in under 4 minutes. He did well with most of the subtraction facts, and I had him do more of the harder ones. I didn't time him since they haven't started those in class yet and because he didn't have the paper printed out. Some of the harder ones he got wrong, so we will practice some fact families next week to help him out. We then worked on his sight words. He is on the same list as last week and tested out of about. He got all of them right except girl and come. He had to sound those out. Then we read Fly High, Fly Guy and answered the reading comprehension questions. I could tell that he remembered more this time since he had read it once before. We got through chapter 2 and will finish next week."
