Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on reading a chapter from Little Bear. She then worked on some reading strategies that came up from the reading. In writing we created a map of the heart, which we will use for her to choose topics to write about. In math we reviewed addition to 10 by using flashcards and playing a game. She is getting better at her basic addition skills and enjoyed the math game."
"The student worked through his homework, which covered different forms of numbers (extended, word, etc.). Part of his homework was to make a five-digit number and come up with clues for another person. He liked trying to stump me. We also made roads on the multiplication table. He was able to color in all the 9's because the method he is now using is the "finger" method where he puts down one finger and the number of the fingers to his left is the first digit and the numbers to his right is the second digit. He was so confident, he was able to tell someone else in his house how to do it."
"The student's attitude toward the material reviewed is positive; he is open to new ideas to solve work problems. The student has access to extra practice using a phonogram app. I did see the student's recent scores/grades to note progress. What an improvement! The win from this session- the student feels more confident in tackling the material. Parents are happy with their son's grades and increased confidence."
"The student's class is currently studying factoring, which is a skill we practiced a lot over the summer, so she is very confident in this. We went through her homework and then played a game that drills multiplication facts."
"The student's dad logged into his EClass and showed me his grades. We worked on place value and also basic addition fluency. He stills struggles with place value and needs to practice addition fluency daily. He needs to memorize the place value table, and I noticed that he is using his fingers when adding basic addition. We will continue to work on these skills. Great attitude towards learning today!"
"The student's mom asked if I could come. She is having a math test. We went over place value, standard form, expanded form, and word form of numbers. We went over her assessment and corrected it together. We worked on her homework together. We used 100 block grids to show decimal numbers."
