Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on identifying the three principal parts of verbs and how to identify what each principal part represents. We worked on identifying the verb conjugation and also noun and adjective gender and declension. I sent her quiz reviews of all of the vocabulary which she can use to study for her exam on Monday."
"Today we went over third declension nouns for the first time. The student knows that he needs to be practicing this material on his own outside of our sessions. This material is just a matter of memorization. We also went through his homework assignment. We ended the session with two math problems that he found particularly challenging. He is making a lot of progress."
"Quickly reviewed what the student had been covering in Algebra class. After questioning and going over homework, he knows what he should about linear equations. We then reviewed relative pronouns in Latin. He has already memorized the paradigm, but I helped him to translate the words in their cases into English."
"The student and I had a very focused session - concentrating on mastering the 3rd and 4th conjugation and solidifying his understanding of the connections and differences between the two conjugations. We worked through conjugating both a 3rd and 4th conjugation verb in the present, imperfect and future tenses both in the active and passive voice. We then worked through Latin exercises which basically tested his knowledge and comprehension in verbs (instead of providing the Latin forms, he had to translate a Latin form into English). Since this was fairly intense work, we ended by reading another passage from the text (modified to be appropriate to his level of Latin). I was impressed at how much easier the translating came to him as compared to the beginning of our sessions! I will definitely plan to incorporate more passages into our sessions in the future."
"The student had a specific project that took us a while to complete. She has a great attitude and I think she will have a lot of success in Latin if she continues to study hard. Great work!"
"The student did terrifically today. We began our coverage of adjectives in the first and second declensions. She demonstrated a strong command of the first- and second-declension noun and adjective endings, as well as the function of the cases. Tonight's exercise provided a good opportunity for vocabulary review. Excellent work tonight!"
