GMAT Tutoring review by Jonathan in Madison, WI
The student and I covered the data sufficiency strategy today, including the pieces of the puzzle and yes/no data sufficiency material. He is doing well with partitioning information and following the strategy. I asked him to complete a set of problems from the study guide. We also added in a handful of new, easy questions. Our next topic will be based on his performance on his practice exam, which he plans to take before the 16th.

GMAT Tutoring review by Phoebe in Madison, WI
The student took a timed quantitative section for homework. When reviewing, something clicked, and she is starting to see the proper way to evaluate yes/no data sufficiency. Since problem solving was actually the bigger problem on her real test, she is going to make sure to incorporate a lot of problem solving into her homework.

GMAT Tutoring review by Alex in Madison, WI
The student and I worked on mainly data sufficiency problems, including ones involving geometry, number properties, and integer properties. We also did the Phocids and stock bubble readings, and then she worked through an assignment of SC problems from the official GMAT. Lastly, we did a few critical reasoning problems.

GMAT Tutoring review by Carl in Madison, WI
The student has been able to devote more time to practice questions of late, and we used some of this work, combined with questions we still haven't gone over from previous practice tests, to continue shoring up localized areas of weakness in his content knowledge and his approach to questions. We didn't cover much new content -- the triangle inequality theorem being a notable exception -- but, instead, reviewed several core areas. The most productive was our discussion of the assumption family of critical reasoning questions and how to keep from missing the assumption by filling it in without realizing it. We'll pick up with that topic on Thursday.

GMAT Tutoring review by Elizabeth in Madison, WI
The student started working on his current homework, which covered three new integration techniques: absolute value, u-substitution, and polynomial long division. We were able to work through problems with all three of these, and although he seemed a little rusty on some PreCalc basics regarding absolute value functions and long division, he ultimately seemed to be alright conceptually with the material. Now, it just takes a bunch of practice with each of these techniques to become comfortable and efficient!

GMAT Tutoring review by Nicholas in Madison, WI
The student and I reviewed integration, differentiation, the fundamental theorem of calculus, and the mean value theorem. He needed help with the last two problems he worked on. They were both AP exam free-response questions, so this is expected. Overall, he did very well. He breezed through the multiple-choice problems, and after a little bit of guidance/ direction, he was able to solve the FRQs as well. I think he is doing well. I have high hopes for the AP exam.
