Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight, the student and I reviewed problems from an exam she had taken in class. We went through the problems that she wanted to go over and worked on correcting them. She seemed to better understand the concepts after the session."
"The student and I met this evening to review for his math test tomorrow, which is almost entirely focused on factoring. He has a good understanding of the material. I reminded him to always go back through and double check his work."
"We went over her Quantitative Completion Form and the article associated with it. She seemed confident about the material being covered."
"The student and I focused on metric units of measure, specifically looking at her homework. She understood the different units (mm, cm, dm, m, km) and was able to decipher which items would be measured in which unit. I think it would be helpful for her to have a more detailed ruler. We then used fake coins to focus on parts of a whole again. The coins were useful because she understands how to use money and it is a topic she could relate to, but it was even more helpful that we spoke about the decimals in relation to their equivalent fractions. I'd like to continue revisiting this topic and incorporate some more word problems in our next session."
"The student and I reviewed her math homework which was a review for standardized testing. I focused on making sure she understood the concepts behind the questions, as well as had good problem solving skills for approaching the questions. We also worked on adjectives and articles."
"We worked on finding the volume of geometric shapes; we also reviewed the Pythagorean Theorem for finding an unknown length on a triangle. The student is doing well on her division and multiplication tables - I can tell she's practiced. We are currently working to create plot graphs for her reading."
