Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we did an exam review for Chapter 7 in the student's textbook. This included the topics of reflexive verbs, preterit verb form, and indirect object pronouns. We went over some exercises in the book for each of these topics and I also created some written exercises of English sentences using the indirect object pronouns (i.e. to me, to them, from them, etc.) to translate into Spanish, per his request. We also went over indefinite and negative words (i.e. something, nothing, someone, no one). He told me that he feels that he did well on his verbal exam he had last Monday, and for the next session I will bring some practice exercises relating to those words."
"Today we worked on vocabulary pertaining to names for different places of locations ( mall, school, etc.). He understands it well from Spanish to English, but needs work on translating it vice versa. Overall the student has shown progress in his grade and is currently happy with his status in his class."
"Instead of learning new vocabulary today, we worked on review/recall of vocabulary and speaking. We started out by going over the vocabulary that we learned last week and then body vocabulary that we learned a few months ago. I wanted to practice speaking out loud, so we took turns reading aloud from a book to work on pronunciation and general comprehension. I'm trying to have them break down big sentences/questions into smaller parts and pick out the words that they already know to understand the questions. I left them with two review worksheets, one on clothing and another on transportation methods."
