Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the student on catching up on her work in Geometry. I reviewed 3 of her finished assignments, finished the study guide, and helped her understand sample questions for her upcoming test."
"We worked through proofs of circles, probability of geometric shapes, and areas within geometric shapes."
"The student is doing much better with math now, after pushing ahead last week covering SOHCAHTOA, which he ended up doing between then and our session yesterday. I did a review of the entire chapter to solidify the concepts in his head."
"The student was continuing her review of quadrilaterals in preparation for her make-up quiz this week. We had worked through the first part of the review pack on Monday and completed the rest of the questions today. These mostly involved analyzing and categorizing coordinate quadrilaterals. I showed her how she can use slope and the distance formula along with the properties of each quadrilateral to categorize the shapes. Thus, we also reviewed the various distinct properties. She was able to use the distance and slope formulas independently and was able to summarize the properties by the end of the lesson. She continued with her wonderful attitude and willingness to learn math."
"Today, we covered two chapters for the upcoming test. The first chapter was about similar triangles, proofs of similarity, and consequences (i.e., proportionalities of corresponding parts). The second chapter was about circles, inscribed angles, central angles, cords, and theorems on the relationship between inscribed angles and central angles."
"We worked on surface area of 3D shapes. The student was very confident with cylinders. He was still struggling a bit with prisms, since the same shape can be drawn with different orientations. We spent the most time working with those problems."
