Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has started to work on completing the square in order to solve quadratics, and we spent the first part of the session filling in some gaps in her knowledge. We then moved on to homework, which reviewed more factoring and word problems, before having additional practice in completing the square. She could use some more practice with interacting with irrational numbers, which I plan to continue to expose her to."
"The student has still not received her test. We spend the session doing review work and practicing concepts with math games. She has a homework sheet, which we looked over today. I also left some problems for self-study and homework."
"The student hasn't done math for a long time and needed practice on some basic concepts. We worked on solving and graphing one-variable inequalities. I printed some practice sheets for him to work on at home. We talked about looking for books for him to study on his own at home."
"The student informed me that her teacher solved inequality equations by using elimination. I asked her to show me examples of the problems she solved in class, and invited her to ask questions regarding the problems. She was ready with questions. I was able to answer her questions, and she reported that she now understood what the teacher was doing. I then solved the next problem, and asked her to take notes and ask questions while the problem was being solved. She asked specific questions pertaining to specific points in the problem, which I was able to answer. She said this session was helping so far. She was motivated, and more focused than the previous session. Her effort was appreciated."
"The student introduced his studies and his classwork issues with me. We went over some algebra basics, and I would like to give him a diagnostic test to see his all-around skills. Much motivation and practice is needed!"
"The student is a hardworking student. She excels at understanding tables and identifying domain, range, and intercepts from them. The only thing she needs more practice with is identifying coordinates for functions on a graph. She sometimes mixes up coordinates when labeling them, and she takes more time to identify the domain and range for functions on graphs. However, we practiced those skills today and will continue to do so in the future because graphing is so integral to upper-level mathematics from now on. She has an exam tomorrow, and I am confident she will do well. She navigates word problems beautifully, and I hope she translates this excellence during her test tomorrow."
