Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Worked with the student on the concept of percentage converting- percentage to decimals and fractions. Also introduced him to finding percentage using a ratio. Reviewed working with positive and negative numbers from last session. The student did well today. I left him with a few practice papers on percentages for the weekend to review with his dad."
"Today the student and I worked on functions of logarithms and natural logs. We finished one ixl as well as one of her homework assignments. She seemed to understand the information concerning logarithms very well. After we finished her math homework we moved on to her Chemistry homework and study guide. We worked on balancing equations and using stoichiometry to find how many grams of a certain solution were present."
"We worked on the student's study guide for his test tomorrow. This included a review of arithmetic and geometric sequences, series and sums. We also reviewed Pascal's triangle and binomial expansions. I showed him a way to minimize confusion when doing binomial expansions. Good session."
"Today during our session, the student and I worked on math and reading. He is preparing for the state assessment at school, so he had a homework packet for reading. I worked through the packet with him. This helped in fluency as well as comprehension and supporting his answers. He was able to answer the questions and read the passage with minimal assistance. I brought him a general skills math packet today to work through. Today, we practiced skills such as money, fractions, and decimals. He is able to easily solve problems involving fractions and decimals. However, he needed assistance when working with money. I will bring more money questions for our next session."
"Today during the session, we reviewed general strategy of taking the state assessment exam and went over the completed released exam from a previous year. We solved the word problems that involved operation with fractions. We determined the equivalent fractions. Next, we compared three integers using less or greater than signs, and then discussed the differences. We also practice addition/ subtraction of fractions with the same denominator. We located fractions on a number line and estimated the coordinate of the point in a number line. We review of order of operations and evaluated the numerical expression. Next, we determined the area of a rectangular figure using the unit square."
"Today, the student and I reviewed two old quizzes concerning imaginary numbers, completed his notes for complex numbers, and completed a homework assignment involving imaginary numbers and the quadratic formula. He has been doing well and has told me that he feels comfortable with the material we are currently working on."
