Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the student to prep for her pre-calculus final this Thursday. We reviewed finding zeros and factoring polynomial functions, identifying odd and even functions, graphing and finding the domain and range of sine, cosine, and tangent and their inverses. I urged her to spend a few hours before Thursday reviewing. We will meet again when school resumes."
"The student and I spent the session reviewing a variety of topics in preparation for her final exam this week. We picked problems from the review packet she was given in class. Some topics we covered were logarithm properties, graphing trigonometric functions, finding rational zeroes and solving polynomials. Some of this material we had covered extensively in earlier sessions, and I can see that she has made improvement."
"The student and I finished reviewing for her final tonight with a check over her study guide and practice of all of the concepts we could not address the other day. She feels much more confident about her exam now, and she seems to have a good grasp of the material."
"We worked on trig; identity problems of varying difficulty, mainly using the fundamental trig identities. He understands them well and finds his mistakes very quickly now. He easily makes the connections between the algebra of the polynomials and trigonometric functions."
"In this session, we reviewed all of the topics the student had this semester in preparation for his final exam. He was a little rusty on some things that were covered early in the year, but managed to remember and work through most of it. He showed a lot of improvement in his handling of trig identities which was one of his weak points."
"We continued on ellipses. The student was still having small trouble when it came to converting polynomials into standard ellipse form. I gave him a checklist for successfully completing the square with special polynomials. We then practiced rigorously with many examples until the student felt comfortable with the conversions."
