Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over basic ways that data sets can be analyzed - mean, median, mode, range, variance, etc., and then we started to talk about normal distributions and z scores and how they can be manipulated to understand data better."
"We went over mean, mode, median, range, variance, and standard deviation. The student was very enthusiastic about the material, but was not clear on how to formulate well defined questions that could be answered using these concepts. We were able to get to the point where she was able to do them, and she did; she is now awaiting the evaluation of her professor."
"We went over principles of limits and secant lines, and talked about different examples of derivatives at x=0. We also did a position/velocity problem to illustrate the concept. Looking forward to future sessions!"
"We went over quiz 5 with the student. The quiz covered probability statistics. The student understood the keywords in the word problems and when to apply the specific formulas. I showed him how to use a calculator for many of the problems in order to check the work. He received a high A on the quiz and informed me that his previous quiz scores were around the C range."
"We went over SAT problems. The student was able to answer most of the questions and showed improvement as we went along. He will practice some more sections on his own before we meet next, and we will go over SAT and ACT Verbal in our next section. I am confident that he will score well, and with some more sessions he will earn a great score."
"We went over the binomial distribution and its relationship to Bernoulli trials, as well as key parameters, including the variance and mean. We discussed the project from last week that she turned in regarding house occupancy with pets as a predictor. During the final portion of the session, we went over the concept and related formulas of correlation (correlation does not imply causation)."
