Salt Lake City German Tutoring FAQ

Varsity Tutors can get you or your student connected with a knowledgeable Salt Lake City German tutor. There are a number of reasons to seek assistance during the process of learning German. Maybe you have a student taking foreign language classes and would like them to keep their skills sharp during breaks from school like summer vacation. Perhaps you are interested in expanding your international business opportunities. Or maybe you will be traveling to Germany in the future and want to get the most out of your trip. No matter what reason you have for learning this beautiful language, Salt Lake City German tutoring can help you reach for your language learning goals.

How can a Salt Lake City German tutor near me help me work towards fluency?

German is a useful language to know, but its differences from English can make it a difficult one to study. For example, German articles are used with nouns and they can be definite or indefinite. In English grammar, the article doesn't change its form; however, in German grammar, the article changes its form to indicate the gender, number, and case of a noun. It is usually useful for German learners to learn the article together with the noun. This is just one of the many concepts that Salt Lake City German tutors can help you or your student review.

There are many ways in which one-on-one instruction can supplement in-class or independent language learning. For starters, you can spend extra time practicing and discussing key concepts with someone who is familiar with German. Your language mentor can give you an individualized learning experience based on your needs, helping you work more effectively toward individual language goals using a plan that addresses your own strengths and areas of opportunity. Since there are no other students to worry about, your educator can keep your needs their highest priority.

One important aspect of studying a new language is getting in the practice necessary to build fluency. Salt Lake City German tutors can assist you with simulated immersion. This method allows you to progress in your language skills quickly while picking up the many grammatical nuances of German. Receiving in-the-moment feedback from someone who knows the language as you practice can be a great way to make sure you are pronouncing essential vocabulary and common phrases correctly.

How can I fit time for Salt Lake City German tutoring into my schedule?

We are aware that life can get busy. This is why we're happy to work with your family's schedule to find someone who is both qualified and available when you need them to be. This way you don't have to stress out about rearranging other priorities in order to spend extra time studying topics like grammar and sentence structure with a Salt Lake City German tutor.

Another convenient aspect of Salt Lake City German tutoring is the fact that it can be done both online and in-person. If you decide to go with online instruction, you get to use the Live Learning Platform. This handy platform allows you to video chat with your educator and even use features like a virtual whiteboard and a shared document editor for writing. Additionally, there is even a recording feature that you can use to watch previous sessions. We know that some students prefer in-person instruction, which is why we can also work to find someone in your area who can help you. You can meet them at a location that is conducive to your own needs, whether it is at your favorite coffee shop or at a nearby library like the Marmalade branch of the Salt Lake City Public Library.

You also have the option of studying with a group of motivated peers in our online German courses. We worked through Chapter 13, completed exercises, and practiced conversation based on what we had discussed in Chapter 13. The student had some questions about personal pronouns that we discussed. He is making great progress; I am very impressed.

Today, the student and I went over basic verbs (to be, to have, to go, to do) and how to use them in sentences. Then, we learned how to describe one's day using these words. He has some trouble with conjugation and pronunciation, but I do see he has significant potential to improve on both. We will continue to work on these.

German Tutoring review by Kristen in Salt Lake City, UT
The student and I had our first session, and I assessed his needs by having him complete a number of activities. We reviewed the verbs etre and avoir, and I had him conjugate these to practice identification and proper conjugation. After practicing these, we created sentences and worked on his homework together. I explained any questions he had and helped him to approach the new material. He has a test on Thursday, and he showed me the topics that his instructor will test him on. I will be creating a test and some practice activities that will help him study for his test. We will complete the activities on Wednesday, and I will introduce some strategies that will help him with his test.

German Tutoring review by Randa in Salt Lake City, UT
Today, we started by watching a short video in French. Next, we continued with review of regular verbs by adding new verbs that fit the pattern. I asked the student to conjugate our target verb "rendre," and then I asked him to use the same pattern to conjugate "attendre." After that, we continued with the new irregular verb voir that we have been working on. We reviewed present, imperfect, and passe compose tenses. Then, I introduced future and conditional tenses for that verb.

German Tutoring review by Jessica in Salt Lake City, UT
The student has his midterm tomorrow, so we spent the session going over the study guide that his teacher gave him. We went over each concept, and anything that he was less sure about, we worked more on than the others. By the end of the session, he proclaimed that he felt good about his test, and I agreed! He did really well during the session, asking great questions and moving forward with great confidence. Before I left, I gave him some advice on checking his test over before turning it in. I believe he is going to do quite well on his midterm tomorrow!

I met the student and her mother for the first time. I assessed the student's level and we reviewed some material she worked on with the other teacher and we continued what was not finished: talking about family and friends, and the negative and possessive articles.
