German Tutoring review by Rudy in Newton, MA
The student and I went over his exam. He scored a 1060 - 340 Reading, 430 Math, and 290 Writing. We went over each of the sections and addressed strategies for each section. One large problem that the student faces is that he doesn't answer most of the questions, so hopefully by becoming more familiar with the questions, he can tackle more of them.

The student  and I had a fun session today. We work on probability, likely or unlikely an event will happen. We did different types of probabilities with a deck of cards and a word board game!    She is getting so good at the multiplication game that I have to  be quicker to answer. I tried to make learning fun since  she did not have much homework and she had the next three days off.

The student and I worked well together. He has a review that we went through. We focused primarily on the topics he felt uncomfortable with, going over some of the more challenging ones. I hope to help him feel more confident with the material.

German Tutoring review by Amy in Newton, MA
The student and I went over the problems that were marked incorrect on the most recently returned assessment.  This mostly included more in-depth work on some topics we've already worked on (Law of Sines, proving identities, graphing, area of a triangle using sine).  I asked her to check whether they're expected to know Heron's Formula.  Next time, we will review Heron's Formula if needed and also do more work on the Law of Cosines.  She still reports she's feeling ok with their most recent classwork, Addition and Subtraction Identities.

German Tutoring review by Patrick in Newton, MA
The student started by giving a small overview in German about the Roman Empire, which she once again did very well with. We then discussed our German news reports. We finished with some work on the passive voice using her workbook. She had very few problems with this. Occasionally she would use the wrong helping verb (sein instead of werden), though not often. She also had some trouble at first finding the tense of passive sentence and turning into active -- the passive voice uses a verb that can also indicate future tense, so some confusion at first is understandable. By the end of our session she was working through the sentences a little more slowly and was having no problems.
