Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the student on her homework for complex numbers. At first, she was a bit unsure on how to approach the problems. I explained to her that she should treat "i" like it was any other variable such as "x" or "y" until all the like terms were combined. At that point, "i" squared becomes negative one and then do any other simplification that is possible. After a few problems, she seemed to develop some confidence in handling the problems. She quickly grasped the concept of complex conjugates."
"I worked with the student on multiplication and division concepts. She a read picture book and was introduced to sequencing events while reading."
"I worked with the student this evening on problems involving motion in two dimensions, projectile motion, and vector geometry. She has a good understanding of the steps needed to take to set up and solve these problems."
"I worked with the student to outline what we would do for his project, and then finished it during the session. He still has a review worksheet due on Friday for his Hobbit quiz. I've asked him to do the Hobbit review packet tomorrow and to find out about his math assignment so we can work on it next session."
"I'm lumping together the past two weeks' meetings because him and I have been able to get through all his homework and questions, for both math and science, under time for both weeks! He recently aced his test and quiz in math, so it seems like his confidence is up, as well as his ability to correct mistakes. We've moved into linear equations now, which is another hurdle to clear, but it's obvious to me that he'll get the hang of it within a couple weeks. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll be by next Wednesday!"
"In addition to reviewing the vocabulary, such as supplementary and complementary angles, he practiced plotting the points on the coordinate plane, solving for the midpoint, and the distance between two points."
