"I worked with him on his homework today. We further explored the properties of exponents. We identified which property was being used in a particular problem, as well as used the properties to solve other problems. He was a bit confused when the properties were used in problems involving variables and negative coefficients and negative exponents. I revisited the property of negative exponents with him to distinguish the difference when there is a negative coefficient. I emphasized that the coefficients should be multiplied together and the exponents added together. I made sure he understood that the negative exponent property is to be used after the product or quotient properties have been applied to the property. A simplified answer cannot have a negative exponent. We work well together, but I would like to see him be more focused to gain the maximum result from our sessions."
"I worked with my student brother in Precalculus (father arranged it off the hours he purchased). We worked on vector addition, projection, and angles between. This was in preparation of his test on Wednesday."
"I worked with my student reviewing math concepts, and then she worked on answering text-based social studies homework questions. I worked with my other student on reading strategies while assisting him in completing math word problems."
"I worked with student one first on mixed numbers and multiplying and dividing fractions, then worked with student two on similar, but more numbers and we added in negative fractions, with mixed numbers. Both students worked hard and ask good questions. We will be setting up regular meetings."
"I worked with the student on factoring to prime numbers, expressing them in exponential form and determining greatest common factors. He needed help seeing the greatest factors and with exponential expressions. More work will help. He worked on addition and subtraction of mixed numbers and determination of least common multiples. He did reasonably well with those."
"I worked with the student on fast fact division. The student was struggling with completing fast fact division within the 2 minute timeframe. We practiced fast facts, and we also practiced multiplying decimals. The student did well with multiplying decimals. We will continue to work on fast facts moving forward."
