Session Summaries by Geometry Tutors

Geometry Tutoring review by Ashley in Chicago, IL
The student is taking 2 math classes right now, so today we worked on Math B as opposed to Math A covered in our last session. We covered two sections in our session. The first of which was named "Pairs of Angles," which included topics such as vertical angles, adjacent angles, supplementary and complementary angles. The student breezed through this section quickly. He then took a quiz (without my help) online and he scored a 100. The next section we began covered included right angles and perpendicular bisectors. Again, he worked through this with no problems, and took another quiz, which he made a 100 on.

Geometry Tutoring review by Amy in Chicago, IL
We began by reviewing an in-class worksheet that the student had received a poor grade on because he hadn't finished in time; for the most part, however, he understood the material well (areas of triangles, trapezoids, parallelograms, rhombi, and kites). He does need to recognize more quickly when 30-60-90 or 45-45-90 triangles are coming into play, and remember those relationships, for ease of calculation. We then worked through the current homework on area of circles and sectors, as well as some review and challenge problems. The student was overall doing well with this material.

Geometry Tutoring review by Anna in Chicago, IL
The student and I went over her test on areas of polygons. We worked on problems with parallelograms, triangles, circles, sectors. We also worked on her homework on regular pyramids. We solved for volume, height, slant height, lateral area of various pyramids, octagonal, hexagonal and square.

Geometry Tutoring review by Ishita in Chicago, IL
We worked with some more review of volume, lateral area, and surface area of 3D figures, since she has a test over the material tomorrow. She's starting to do quite well with it, though she'll make silly mistakes like forgetting units or cubing instead of squaring.

Geometry Tutoring review by Zachary in Chicago, IL
The student and I went over his test and tried to discern why he received a 77. It turns out that he knew the material, he just made some small mistakes with his arithmetic. I encouraged him to slow down and double check his work. We revised his test and he told me he will receive 5 bonus points for a good revision. We then went through his homework and did some review for an upcoming quiz.

Geometry Tutoring review by Juan in Chicago, IL
Today we went over circles and the lines associated with circles, for example the chord, radius, diameter, and secant lines. At first the student did not understand some of the lines but once I explained them to her she seemed to understand them better. She should look over the material again so she can make sure she fully understands it.
