Certified Tutor
I am a recent graduate from the honors college at Baylor University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. This fall I will be pursuing my Master of Science in Diagnostic Genetics and Genomics from MD Anderson Cancer Center. During high school I studied molecular oncology at Harvard University, computer science at the University of Texas, and participated in numerous pre-health opportunities which fueled my passion for education. In my undergraduate years I worked in a breast cancer research lab at Baylor University and an ovarian cancer research lab at MD Anderson Cancer Center, fueling my passion for the natural sciences. My freshman and sophomore years of college, I tutored middle school and high school students at a local underserved middle school and high school. I primarily tutored in STEM-related subjects, including biology, chemistry, algebra, geometry, algebra II, pre-calculus, and calculus. I also helped high schoolers prepare for the AP exam in biology, chemistry, language and composition, and calculus AB. During my junior and senior years of undergraduate, I worked as a supplemental instructor at Baylor University, a nationally accredited collaborative learning program focused on improving student success in challenging courses. I worked alongside professors to assist in the classroom and led independent study sessions after classes to allow other undergraduates to promote active learning and reinforce course material. I worked as a supplemental instructor for Calculus II and Introduction to Psychology. During this time, I also worked as an independent tutor for other undergraduate students at Baylor University in courses such as Biology I, Biology II, Chemistry I, and Chemistry II. I am most passionate about biology, chemistry, math, and preparing students for standardized tests. Standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, and AP exams are the key to unlocking students' future in college and setting them up for a successful undergraduate career. In all my experiences, my goal is to encourage younger generations to appreciate and understand the value of education and knowledge. I am extremely passionate about learning new things, and I hope to share this passion with and inspire others through tutoring.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy maintaining balance in my life through sailing, cooking, lifting weights, Pilates, playing with my dog, watching baseball, and doing molecular oncology research.
