I am a graduate South Carolina State University where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I also received a Master of Education Degree in Divergent Learning with a focus on providing instructional high yield strategies for at risk students from Columbia College. I also received an Education Specialist Degree from South Carolina State University in Educational Leadership. I have a wealth of experience in education and I have had an opportunity to work with students from various backgrounds. I am passionate about students learning, achieving, and developing their full potential. It is important that all students have equal opportunities to experience success, during whole group instruction, small group instruction and individualized instruction. Tutoring is a great way to assist students that are struggling and it also helps to increase their confidence. I was tutored when I was in Elementary School in the area of math. I had a great tutor and I still remember her name. She was patient and modeled several strategies that I could utilize to help solve problems. I started tutoring when I was in high school and I have lots of experience tutoring students in reading, math, science, and history.
My favorite subject to tutor is Reading. Reading is fundamental for the students to be able experience success in all the other subjects. In addition to being able to comprehend and understand what you're reading. This is a life long skill that students develop at an early age. It is vital that our students are able to summarize and identify the key points when reading a piece of literature and other important documents. As educators, it is our goal for students to be able to transfer that knowledge and for them to apply it in other settings.
