I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Nicholas

Certified Tutor

I am currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, pursuing a double-major of accounting and finance with a certificate in data science. I have already experienced two accounting internships, one in internal audit and the other in fund accounting, and I have an internship in public accounting lined up for next summer. My strongest areas are accounting and finance, but I am also well-versed in ACT/SAT prep, SIE exam prep, and AP exam prep. I have coached young athletes in hockey and lacrosse for the last 5 years, and that really inspired me to transition my teaching into a classroom setting. I like to take a deep dive into what my students know and are comfortable with, starting simple and moving forward only when I am sure they understand the topic. I believe that repetition is the key to understanding, and that getting out of one's comfort zone by answering questions solving problems will produce results far beyond the alternative. Outside of school and work I am an avid athlete. I like to lift weights, play hockey, ski, and get outside whenever I can. I also love learning new things, whether it be a new language (currently learning Italian), outdoor skills, or just anything that seems interesting.

Hobbies

I've been a lifelong athlete, and I love both watching and playing hockey, lacrosse, and football. My parents introduced me to skiing at a young age, and I use whatever money I can scrape together to travel out West and ski over winter break. As for more intellectual hobbies, I am currently learning both Italian and German in my quest to become a polyglot (I am already proficient in Spanish). I love learning, and if something piques my interest on social media or out and about, I'll immediately dive into that topic. I'm currently learning to play the bass guitar, which is a lot harder than it appears.
