Isaiah: Apple Valley tutor
Certified Tutor
I graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and Economics. My specific focus in Conservation and Economic Development allowed me to build a strong background in the natural sciences, mathematics, and Spanish. Since graduation, I've spent two years serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer working on community-led conservation projects in Panama. In addition to my academic and professional pursuits, I am passionate about working to help students succeed academically in a variety of ways. Beginning as a high school senior, I mentored 8th-grade students to prepare them for their freshman year. As a college student, I led study groups for current students and served as an admissions ambassador to help prospective students plan out their college journey. Finally, as a Peace Corps Volunteer, I taught summer courses for students interested in the natural sciences and/or struggling in math. My commitment to student success is rooted in the belief that learning can expand students' imagination and connect them with life-changing opportunities. My approach to teaching is to build confidence, inspire creativity, and encourage curiosity. I love it when students ask questions, and I strive to make learning fun and feel connected to real-world experiences. In my spare time, I enjoy sports, outdoor recreation, and reading.
