Simal: Santa Monica tutor
Certified Tutor
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, working toward a B.S. in Psychology on the pre-med track. I have several years of tutoring experience, having worked with high school and elementary students in biology, chemistry, and math. These early experiences shaped my passion for education and showed me how empowering it can be to help students not only understand challenging material but also gain confidence in their abilities.
While I tutor a range of STEM subjects, I'm especially passionate about biology and chemistry. These subjects are central to understanding the world around us, and I enjoy helping students connect complex ideas to real-life examples. I strive to make science more approachable by breaking concepts down clearly and patiently, adapting my style to each student's unique learning needs.
As a current college student taking advanced science courses, I understand firsthand how overwhelming academics can be especially when support is harder to find outside the regular school year. That's why I'm committed to being a reliable, encouraging resource for students, particularly in the summer, when accessible help is more limited.
Outside of academics, I enjoy creative writing and exploring how psychology and medicine intersect with human stories. I bring this same thoughtfulness and curiosity into my tutoring, creating a space where students feel safe asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in both skill and confidence.

Degree: The University of Texas at Austin - Bachelor's (in progress), Psychology B.S.
I enjoy creative writing as a personal outlet for reflection and emotional expression. I often write poetry and narrative pieces that explore themes of identity, compassion, and resilience—drawing from both personal experience and my interest in human behavior. I also love hiking and exploring nature, finding peace and perspective in quiet, open spaces. Whether I’m writing or walking a trail, I’m drawn to experiences that help me slow down, think deeply, and reconnect with what matters most. These passions ground me and shape the thoughtful, empathetic approach I bring to my tutoring and future career in medicine.
