Certified Tutor
I am a computer science student at the University of Toronto. I have always loved my math and science classes at school and had so much fun helping out my classmates before tests and discussing our answers afterwards. My fondness for teaching translated into my volunteer work, where I took instruction-related roles, such as being a teen program assistant at my local library. After my first year of university, I led a weekly Python for Beginners workshop to introduce high school students to coding and encourage them to continue learning about programming. And then I began to tutor! I first spent a summer tutoring Toronto students in math and science at a nonprofit, where I helped them complete and understand the very kinds of exercises I used to enjoy solving back in the day. And most recently, I have led conversational English classes to Spanish speakers, ranging from children to working professionals seeking to improve their fluency and polish their pronunciation (English and Spanish are my native languages). Throughout my time tutoring, encouraging active participation from my students has always been a focus of mine. And with math and science in particular, the enthusiasm I have for these subjects is something I hope to foster in those I teach.
