I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of British Columbia, with a strong interest in child development and education. My passion for working with students, especially at the elementary level, comes from the joy of helping them build confidence in their abilities and watching that "lightbulb" moment when something finally clicks. I've worked with children in several settings, from teaching taekwondo to young students at a martial arts academy, to volunteering at a hospital where I provided companionship and support to patients. These experiences helped me develop patience, creativity, and an adaptable teaching style that focuses on encouragement and fun. I tutor core elementary subjects, including reading, writing, basic math, and early science. My favorite subjects to tutor are English and Math. I love English because it allows students to express themselves, build communication skills, and explore stories and ideas. I enjoy teaching Math because it helps students develop logical thinking and problem-solving, and I aim to make it approachable and enjoyable through relatable examples and step-by-step guidance. My tutoring style is supportive, interactive, and student-centered. I believe that learning should feel safe, positive, and personalized to each student's pace and interests. I focus on making lessons engaging, using real-life examples and games to help students feel motivated and comfortable. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, going on hikes, reading books, and baking. These hobbies help me stay balanced and bring a lot of energy and creativity into my tutoring sessions.
