Monica: Riverdale tutor
Certified Tutor
My passion for the Spanish language and for teaching stems from a deep love of learning and a desire to inspire others. I discovered my interest in education thanks to a high school English teacher who challenged and motivated me to grow. This experience shaped my path and continues to influence my approach as an educator. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish with a minor in Psychology from Arizona State University and have had the opportunity to study the linguistic development and cultural evolution of the Spanish language through academic experiences in both Mexico and Spain. As a native Spanish speaker with a strong academic foundation, I offer support in pronunciation, grammar, cultural context, and personalized lesson planning to meet each student's needs. Whether students are seeking to improve conversational fluency or meet academic goals, I strive to create a positive and engaging learning environment. My focus is on building confidence and making language learning enjoyable, while helping students connect with Spanish in a meaningful and lasting way.

I have had the privilege of living in diverse countries, including Japan, South Korea, Spain, and Mexico, which has allowed me to immerse myself in different cultures and broaden my global perspective. Additionally, I’ve traveled to several other countries and plan to continue exploring new places. Outside of my professional life, I have a strong appreciation for animals and nature, and that includes spending time outdoors. As an avid learner, I’m constantly seeking new knowledge and skills, including an interest in photography, for which I plan to take formal lessons to further develop my abilities.
