Personal Statement/Teaching Philosophy
My passion is to help students establish healthy learning habits, to foster curiosity in each individual, to cultivate not just knowledge, but wisdom for the future, and to serve those around me with the love and respect each individual deserves. I desire to help each and every individual not only pass their classes, but to truly learn and enjoy the subject matter they seek to master. I have experience with a wide variety of learners and tailor my approach to the individual to ensure the best possible results. Let us seek knowledge with humility, for the strength we possess is not in our ability to surpass others, to win at all costs and subjugate those we see as beneath us, but is instead in our ability to help those who have yet to know what it is we have been granted to perceive.
Biography:
My name is Stephen Wade. I have a Master of Arts Degree in Systematic Theology from Trinity International University in Chicago and a Double BA in Philosophy as well as Religious Studies from the University of New Mexico. I did my graduate work in philosophical theology and am fascinated by how it is philosophy and theology intersect as complimentary disciplines. I am currently seeking university level positions in Philosophy and teach college Philosophy, Theology, and English (writing and literature) primarily. Along with these disciplines, my other great loves are for creative writing (which I practice regularly), and for music performance. In my free time I continue to write (both fiction and non-fiction) daily and hope to supplement a university teaching career with publication. Additionally, I have been a member of the classical music community since the age of three years and have played flute at the highest level both as a soloist and within various orchestras and chamber ensembles. In my spare time I continue to play flute and additionally enjoy piano (which I also play) and composition.
