I believe in learning something everyday and believe in the idea of being a "Renaissance" type of individual who has a wide range of knowledge and a willingness to adapt to new situations and think outside the box.

My educational background includes an undergraduate degree from Spring Hill College in Alabama where I graduated with a degree in history with a minor in secondary education and English. Eventually, I did graduate work at Nova Southeastern University, getting an MS degree in Social Sciences. What I enjoyed most about my degree from Nova is that your Masters' "thesis" was not typical. The "thesis" was not selecting a topic and finding a new way to present already known material. At Nova, your "thesis" was a practicum. You had to look for a problem in the educational field and try to figure out a method to solve that problem or at least bring the problem to light for a broader discussion in the educational community. Because I was going to school when education was just beginning to "track" students and put them in different learning groups, I chose to look at how students had lost the ability to recognize common themes across varying levels of students. For example, students may know the term "do unto others" but few know that this is the "golden rule". Trying to find common ground with students from different backgrounds and experiences is a challenge and I am always interested in watching them get to the "ah ha" moment.
