English can be applied, and should be applied, to all subjects; the ability to communicate effectively is essential for any endeavor. This is one of the main reasons that I studied at the University of Montana and earned my Bachelor of Arts in English and earned my Secondary Teaching Certificate while there. Sharing my passion for reading and writing was only strengthened as I tutored throughout high school and college. I had the opportunity to work with students ranging in age from elementary to high school in math, grammar, reading, and writing.

Currently I work for a private school, Sterling Education, and teach 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English and just completed my 3rd year teaching. In my classes I encourage students to learn and apply knowledge of grammar, reading, and writing not only to my class, but to all of their academic pursuits. No matter the setting, I truly enjoy getting to work with students and help them to gain confidence and to make their education their own. To better educate my students and to feed my own passion for learning, I plan to pursue a Masters in Writing after I marry my best friend this October.

I truly enjoy tutoring in the subjects of English, Literature, Writing, and Grammar and Mechanics because these easily translate to other subjects and other aspects of life. Students are able to apply their passion for other subjects, topics, sports, and activities to what we are reading or writing about; this real life application makes their learning relevant, fun, and personal.

Having read about so many adventures in literature, I enjoy having some of my own. I enjoy traveling, and have visited a variety of locations throughout the United States, Alaska being one of my favorites, and outside the United States, including Europe, New Zealand, Chile, and Italy. Hiking allows me to adventure in my surrounding area. I especially enjoy hikes that follow sandy beaches of the ocean or lead to picturesque waterfalls. My community is richly diverse and I love participating in it through a variety of volunteer programs. Fortunately my family does not live far from me and I strive to visit them frequently, especially my beautiful niece.
