During this session, we went over orbital theory and electron configuration. At first, she was a bit confused, but as the session progressed, she was able to grasp all the concepts completely. We went over a packet she had as an assignment and a lab. Overall, this session went well.

This session was a review of Chapter 3 homework. We covered mass percent, relative abundance of 2 isotopes (x and y are unknown; get y in terms of x in order to solve), average atomic mass, relative percent mass, number of molecules, number of atoms, Avogadro's number, and ppb = parts per billion. I will assign more homework in addition to the problems the student got incorrect on this last homework assignment. He is doing well and is moving right along, gaining deeper understanding and insight along the way!

Today, the student and I covered many different general chemistry topics. We went over significant figures, scientific notation, the basics of the periodic table, and naming of binary compounds/ polyatomic ions. I believe that this session greatly helped her go over the basics for general chemistry and it will be immensely helpful to her grade/ performance in the class!

The student is very good at the circular motion problems, but needs some more work on trajectories and momentum conservation. We will cover those in our next session.

We started Mendelian Genetics and The Chromosomal Basis of Inheritance tonight. I sent the student two different reading guides for each chapter. We started a mock exam that goes through a lot of the problems she will face on her next exam. She needs to go through and know all of the traditional Mendelian ratios. She also needs to know the difference between the law of independent assortment and the law of segregation. I think these two things will help her on her next exam.
