We talked about balancing equations and stoichiometry today. We practiced problems involving combustion and metallic oxides. These problems involved solving for mass of unknown using the starting material mass and mole ratios.

The student and I went over material for her exam she had on Wednesday. She had a study guide that we worked on together and I walked her through how to do all of the issues she had. She also was vague in explaining some of the written answers and I helped her expand on the statements. She was having an issue mainly with periodic trends and I helped her understand the trends and why they were occurring.

The student and I reviewed for his test on Friday. We practiced naming compounds based on the rules of ionic compounds and molecules. We also practiced using the names of compounds in order to write their proper formulas. We then practiced learning the names and formulas of the common acids and how to determine their suffixes based on their polyatomic ions.

We went over the student's most recent lecture notes. The material we covered involved the electromagnetic spectrum and how to use wavelength and frequency in order to determine the type of radiation a given photon will represent. We also went over quantum mechanics and the Schrodinger equation. The student seemed to have a good grasp of the material, even quantum mechanics.

Today we went through a couple of worksheets and highlighted some hints and tricks. By the end he greatly improved and was doing problems quickly entirely on his own.

We reviewed LeChatelier's principle and the naming of chemical structures. We also went over equilibrium problems involving stress on reactants and products.
