Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student practiced the uses of the prepositions por and para. He learned new vocabulary related to the body parts and health. His Spanish pronunciation is great! He wrote a paragraph using the imperfect and preterite tenses, and he also had a quiz today."
"The students and I worked on a review of topics we have covered before. We created Spanish app accounts together in order for them to keep practicing when we don't have a session throughout the week. We also created conversations, in order to have real conversation practice."
"This week, the student needed help understanding the material in the novel chapters 3 and 4. We then spent a majority of the time discussing a breakdown of the events of those chapters, and analyzed the further character development in the story. We also reviewed his homework, and he corrected the few mistakes. For next time, he is to read chapters 5 and 6 of the novel, and be ready to discuss their contents."
"Today the focus was on how to use -AR, -ER, and -IR verbs in the present tense. The students completed several practice exercises. After checking for understanding and completing additional exercises, we moved on to stem changing verbs, specifically the u changing to ue in the stem. The students completed several more practice exercises using partial information to create sentences. The session ended a with providing a list of topics to discuss, and they created a dialogue activity including the verbs conjugated in the present tense."
"Today the student and I did a review of the preterit tense for his upcoming exam. We went over ar/er/ir and irregular verbs. He did a really good job of going over the irregular verbs from last time on his own. We also did some activities out of his online workbook in order to prepare for his upcoming quiz and tests. He is going to continue to study from his workbook on his own, and next week I will help him with any problems that were especially challenging."
"Today we caught up with each other and then started to talk about family traditions. It was a really good session for the student. Every time he is getting better and I can see his progress. He knows the words that he struggles with but he is trying to get them right. He is more fluent now and it is so easy to talk about anything because he has a better vocabulary. He told me that he has been practicing his Spanish with his coworkers so that makes it even more enjoyable and challenging."
