Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over finding the distance between two points, how to find the equation of a line given slope and point and given two points, percent and proportion word problems, and finding slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. This was more of a review to help her with the studying process. We will meet again on Tuesday."
"The student and I went over first order differential equations. We mainly focused on linear differential equations, and did a bit of separable equations. We briefly discussed nonlinear first order differential equations and change of variables for first order differential equations. I showed her how to do Cauchy-Euler differential equations using another method."
"The student and I went over functions, their definition, how to test if a function is a function of x, how to identify domain and range, and writing the domain and range in both interval and set notation. We then went over how to identify if a function is even or odd and how to identify if the function is increasing or decreasing within a certain interval as well as calculating the average rate of change of a function within that interval. She understood the topics well. We then worked on some examples and I had her complete a few problems, which she was able to complete successfully."
"The student and I went over graph translations from a parent function. He was very attentive during the session. In the next session, we will pick up right where we left off and make sure he not only has the concepts down, but that he is able to perform exercises at a high level on a test, exam, or quiz."
"The student and I went over half of his corrections. I noticed that many of the points he missed were because he did not show his work. He did seem to understand the material and was able to discover his own small mistakes. I have scheduled another session for Thursday, and we should be able to finish the last of his corrections."
"The student and I went over her entire chapter test review because she has a test on Wednesday. She came prepared with questions, she was initially confused about transformations, stretches, and compressions of functions, so we started there. She picked up the material quickly. We also went over synthetic division, synthetic substitution, factoring a polynomial, end behavior of functions, using Pascal's triangle to simplify expressions, and long division of polynomials. The student has a lot of strengths in math and catches on quickly. She made a couple mistakes with order of operations but remedied that without missing a beat."
