Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over the student's exam and the questions she had issues with. We then looked at her recent quizzes and homework. We spent the majority of the time going over logarithms. Overall, she had a pretty strong understanding of the material she just needed gaps filled in."
"Today we worked on calculus test prep questions and homework. We evaluated limits of rational functions, and found horizontal asymptotes. We determined continuity of composite functions, continuity intervals of root functions and rational functions. We evaluated limits that will be relevant in calculating derivatives. The student is well prepared for the upcoming test."
"Today we worked on determining equations of vertical, horizontal, and slant asymptotes, general function notation and domain restrictions based on removable discontinuities, factoring quadratic equations into products of binomials, and determining function behavior as the independent variable grows arbitrarily large. We reviewed graphs of different rational functions and their possible behavior through out the real numbers."
"Today we worked on interest problems and population growth problems. The student did very well, she didn't struggle much, and she needs to remember which equation goes with what kind of problem. She was confident, considering she got almost all the problems correct on her first try."
"Today we worked on the homework assignment for real life problems involving exponential equations. The student did very well on the financial interest ones. After some guidance he also did good on the radioactive decay exercises and the population growth ones as well. He had about 10 problems from the book and another 9-10 on a worksheet."
"Today when I met with the student, we covered topics in analysis of functions using derivatives. We covered the use of sign charts to find critical points, intervals of increase and decrease, relative maxima and minima, points of inflection, and concavity. He seems to understand the material very well. We ended the session by making a formula sheet for his quiz on Friday. Overall, it was a great session."
