Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over all topics for her next test, which included congruence in mod, the pattern and chip model, repeating decimal to fraction, rationalizing denominator, finding fractions between fractions, solving proportion word problems, finding percents, identifying functions, finding equations of lines, solving systems of linear equations, and distance between two points. I supplemented by giving her links, but also offered to meet with her over the weekend for additional practice."
"The student and I went over an eclectic set of problems today, as we had a review packet to work through. We started with a statistics problem, and this led to a review of conditional probability, the use of Venn diagrams, intersection, and unions. Next, we solved a problem involving quadratic functions, which required the review of the quadratic formula, factoring, and graphing. Finally, we solved problems involving trigonometry. The review was very productive, and we worked through a good number of problems. I believe that he understood and recalled most of the problem-solving strategies that we covered today."
"The student and I went over an online homework assignment on slopes. She mostly worked independently and asked a few questions. She is greatly improving on the content of her work. I encouraged her to finish any assignments that she has online."
"The student and I went over concepts for her Algebra test tomorrow on scientific notation. She understood everything well. We also reviewed for her upcoming Spanish unit test. She is very solid on the vocabulary; just needs to review the family relationship a little bit."
"The student and I went over derivative/integrations of logarithm/exponential/and inverse trig functions. He was a bit confused but quickly bounced back with a few tips and guidance. I've given him all of the materials he needs to remember and ways to manipulate his equations/functions to get what he wants."
"The student and I went over different problems from her review sheet. She picked out problems she didn't know how to do, and we discussed what to do, and then she worked out the problem on her own (with me watching). Each time she got the answer correct, it built up her confidence and made her comfortable with doing that type of problem. We plan to meet again on Friday to study more. She will go over her review problems and choose the ones she wants to do together."
