Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed information for a presentation that the student has coming up. She is an incredibly hard worker and always puts forth great effort. We reviewed her presentation and reviewed some strategies that could help her connect words to meanings. We focused on ways to remember the connection between a certain location and what happens there. I told her that as she is putting together her poster for her project, she should use the pictures to connect with words, so she remembers during the presentation."
"Continued working on word problems, as well as spending some time with percentages and rate problems. The student is having some trouble with multi-step discount and percentage problems, so we worked breaking them down and doing each part separately."
"In today's session, the student worked on all sight words. He read 19/20 correctly! He still needs a little help on the word - here-. He learned all short vowel sounds and made words with those sounds. Good job! He worked on subtraction with pictures and counting by writing numbers in the correct order. We read a story about dinosaurs, and he learned the word - catastrophic - from the article. Great job today!"
"Today, we continued to go over the student's pre-class assignment. The majority of the session was spent working on theoretical yield and limiting reagent problems. She was able to learn how to do these and do multiple problems correctly. The last chunk of the session was all nomenclature and how to balance ionic solids. We will try and finish tomorrow."
"Today, we finished an ISEE Middle School Equations assessment. We reviewed long division, fractions, order of operations, and algebraic expressions. The strategies that we discussed today included pacing, guessing, and skipping. The student's attitude toward learning is amazing. She is very focused and eager to learn. She is truly a joy to work with. We will continue to practice for the SSAT during our next session."
"Today, we reviewed the numbers from 10 to 100. We also practiced how to order food in a restaurant and how to ask for the bill. With the numbers, we started to learn the time. The student is very enthusiastic, and she is learning a lot. She has to continue practicing and memorizing all the vocabulary."
