Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through his math homework. It was about the expanding form of numbers and using that to solve word problems. We solved several questions on them and I asked him to solve them for me to make sure he understood how to solve them. We also used the system of equations to solve some of the problems. He understood how to solve them and he is doing good."
"The student and I covered introductory statistics concepts including hypothesis testing, categories of variables, and independent versus dependent variables. Since her course uses a "flip" format, we prepared for next week's lecture by answering practice problems and readiness assessments. She felt prepared for the next lesson and we will continue to meet on a weekly basis to provide additional reinforcement of concepts and practice."
"I gave the student his first lesson on fractions. We covered the definition of fractions, mixed numbers, equivalent fractions, reducing/simplifying fractions, and improper fractions. It was a lot of material, but he will be working on his curriculum side by side with our lessons, so he will have plenty of opportunity for practice."
"The student and I covered section 4 and section 6 of chapter 11. He seems to understand the concepts. He was extra focused during our session today, noticeably so."
"The student completed his proportions and ratios homework today. We had extra time, so I decided that we could look ahead and learn about stem-and-leaf plots. We learned what a stem-and-leaf plot is and why they are useful in data science. I felt that he caught on to the lesson quickly and was able to absorb most of what was said. He is doing a good job so far."
"I reinforced the student's multiplication skills and some subtraction as well as some reinforcement on area and perimeter. She is actually getting better at multiplying numbers. At the beginning she was very happy to go over a multiplication worksheet I printed for her, but as we went to study on a book I purchased for her, she deviated a little bit from her studies. I tried to make a fun activity this time with regards to multiplication tables. I left her with two sheets which I advise she learns. This was the multiplication tables of 7 and 9. I believe she is on schedule. She is definitely getting better at multiplying and understanding area and perimeter, but she still needs more reinforcement. We will continue to work on that."
