Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, we first reviewed the numbers 1-6, and then we learned how to say and write the dates (month, day and year). She was very good at the pronunciation, and also is getting better and better with identify the tones. I also introduced some basic logic of character building, and analyzed a few words as the examples. The new vocab for today was: month/moon, day/sun, year, morning, 7 and 8. New Pinyin were: b, p, m, f. (I also explained how Pinyin works). The homework is to finish the worksheet and write down a complete date for next time."
"The student got a 90% on Test Two. She was able to write the characters based on Pinyin and gave correct Pinyin to the characters. She will benefit from more studying on the order of strokes. I reviewed how to ask one's nationality and how to introduce friends and families to others in this session. The student was wonderful. I encouraged the student to practice writing in free time and save the session time for reading."
"The student is mixing up some of her numbers, especially numbers between 11- 20 so we spent some time counting today. We counted crayons and incorporated colors as well. I introduced the student to writing some simplified Chinese."
"We covered Chapter 12, which is about ordering food in restaurants. We practiced in person in Chinese. The student's attitude is positive. He is good at remembering class content and making associated conversation. However, he has problems understanding if I teach in Mandarin. He is making progress compared to last time."
"We practiced speaking Chinese using the map and pictures the student's teacher provided. We also looked over her essays on Lao Li's vacation in Shanghai and Ma Ke's learning process in China."
"The student and I reviewed some Chinese phrases and grammar structure in order to reinforce the memory. Then we studied his newly learned grammar and some exercises. We did lots of practice on the structure. He was pretty confident about it at last."
