Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I checked the problems the student worked out after our last session, then we continued doing the rest. I left her a few homework problems on the areas she was having trouble with."
"English and math practice. Talked about avoiding minor errors and paying close attention to what the question is asking for."
"The student and I started by reviewing the math problems he did since the last session. He then went through an entire science test. He scored very well, with a predicted score of about 28. He has improved his ability to use information from multiple tables at once. He has also improved his time and was able to complete all seven passages in just under the allotted 35 minutes. With the remaining time, we looked at a few more math problems, this time going through some of the harder ones together. We will have to work the most on making sure he knows how to start the problems. Once he knows how to start, he generally can answer even the most difficult ones. We've worked on strategies like using the answer choices as a clue for what the test is looking for and looking for shapes and patterns in diagrams. Future sessions will introduce even more strategies for getting started on math problems, particularly ones from the last half of the test and ones that deal with ratios."
